Auto climate control

On an 05 L320 what is the auto setting for the climate? Is it one red light on the auto button or two?
The wife has had it on one light but the fan speed never changes unless the control is rotated. Today I put it on two lights on and there are no fan indicators but it's on. Is that right?
My X5 seems so much better as it's just left at 22* and press 'auto'. Simple.

I'm not near my RRS to check, but if you adjust the fan and vent flap settings it will be in manual, then press Auto and you'll then know what it should look like in auto. 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

Yes it does have a prog button. What does that do. Anyway I've had it with two lights on and it seems to be correct.
