Is it possible to drive at night with no lights on?

Sounds odd, but as a farmer I quite often want to drive around the farm with absolutely no lights on at night. Tried doing this last night and it seems impossible to turn off the LED daytime running lights as well as all other lights - it works when stationary but as soon as you select drive the LEDs turn on. Anyone know a solution?!

You may well be able to turn them off in the CCF files, but is it not a legal requirement to have them working assuming you car is a RRS2 when on the public highway, which would mean you would have to edit the CCF files every time you went from private land to public highway.

Cheers

Rather than edit the ccf file etc would an easier option not just be to fit an additional switch ? Then you can just leave the lights set on auto all the time and throw the switch when on farm and leave it when off ?

You would still get the DRL’s though as they are now a legal requirement regardless of the driving conditions. Maybe some light covers painted black? Have you a problem with sheep rustlers or poachers that you want to drive around with no lights on? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

If the drl's are fused then as long as the switch is in line with them it would turn them off.

No fuse listed specifically for DRL's that I can see in H/Book so must be integral with something else, probably need to look at wiring diagram as they are activated when ignition in mode 7 whatever that is, the CJB gets a engine running signal, also when park is not selected, headlamp switch in off position and also when in "Auto" position.

Thanks for all the replies - Tim, yes we get hare and deer coursers and poachers at this time of year - always fun driving right up behind them and then turning all the lights on full beam!

All ideas sound good although I’ll probably stick to just using our old 200tdi Discovery instead as there is no very easy solution...

You need a PHEV in EV mode for silence, fit it with a set of Defender OEM headlights, they are so dim nobody will see you! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
