Don't go overboard tightening it. If you're competent then you'll know how easily the steel thread will strip it's surroundings in that housing.

The plug has lock tight on it when you buy it, you can see a trace of white on the thread in the picture. The torque setting is 28nm so if you have a low range torque wrench you could see if it’s tight enough. It doesn’t go all the way in some thread will still show when tight.

I don't know if it's just the angle of the photo, but it doesn't look square to the thread, almost as if it was cross-threaded. This could explain why it's tight but still leaking. Did you have the diff oil changed? |
