Help please - work done, now something doesn't look right!

Hi all,
I've just had some work complete don my '08 RRS - the fuel breather pipe was identified as leaking at my recent service, so I agreed to have them replace it. The thing is - I never paid much attention to the fuel cap area before I had the work done, but when I came to re-fuel yesterday (first time since having the work done) - somethng just looks wrong, or missing....
Could I ask a huge favour of any early RRS owners, please? Could someone have a look behind their fuel flap and take a pic to compare to the pics I've attached?
Am I imagining it or is something amiss?!

Many thanks!

It looks like they have put on the later filler neck. The earlier version - as on your 08 - was metal and didn't have the misfuel device in it. Would be worth picking up the reset device just in case you activate the misfuel device at some point. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks for the quick reply. It's tricky to see from my pic, but in the photo with the cap off, you can just about see a thin bit of black plastic runs around the edge of the whitish/grey circular piece with the hole in the middle. This piece of black plastic looks as though it's broken around the edges to me. Any thoughts? 2008 RRS HSE Stornoway Grey

Looks to me like they have ripped off part of the rubber seal that locates in a groove in the top metal part of the filler neck.

Cheers

This is what it should look like, I think they have actualy torn the rubber seal when they pulled the filler neck out, so would need replacing.

I emailed the garage and got the following reply -

"I’ve just checked with the technician and it’s only a rubber filler nothing to worry about "

The thing is - to me, it is something to worry about as it's not 'perfick' and I've paid hundreds of pounds for a fuel breather pipe to be replaced! Am I being petit? 2008 RRS HSE Stornoway Grey

No, it's not petty to expect them to do the job correctly.

Was this at a LR dealer garage? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

It was put there for a reason.

Turn it back on them...if it is “only a seal”, they won’t mind replacing it!! 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Thanks all.

The seal is there, it just doesn't sit flush around the edge of the metal neck filler and looks like it's been cut with a blunt blade or something - leaving a jagged edge.
So I don't think it's a safety issue, it just looks a bit crap... 2008 RRS HSE Stornoway Grey
