Alarm randomly goes off, have looked at dash when alarm sounding, no message on dash ? No pattern to when it goes off, might be sat on drive for few hours or a day or so, no error codes etc showing on IIDTOOL,removed the suspect bonnet switch all looks good, think it might be the front passenger door switch as don’t use this much and when I do seems alarm goes off a while later, how easy is it to remove this unit ? Door card etc removal ? Thanks 👍🏻

The bonnet switch may LOOK ok but unless you test it you won`t really know. They`re not expensive to replace. I changed mine on the off chance that was the problem and it was. Steve.

The bonnet switch on my car was the cause of the alarm going off randomly. I changed it and the problem has never returned. They are cheap to buy and easy to install.

Happened me at work one day, was rather embarrassing. ... it will be the bonnet switch which if standing at front of the car is at the left hand side hatch for the bonnet to catch onto. you can unplug it and make a loop with a bit of wire and put it in the end of the sensor plug which then completes the circuit and voila no more alarm going off.

Ok, alarm went off today after 4 days of car not being used, still.no message on dash when it goes off, re set itself and never went off again, have linked out the bonnet switch to see if it stops this random issue, fingers crossed, thanks

I never got a message for mine, but done the loop with wire on the bonnet sensor and that was it sorted, never done it again!

+1 for the bonnet switch as the likely culprit. This was exactly the case on mine about six weeks ago, and was a quick easy fix for the lads at my local indie (it was booked in for other stuff, before anyone mocks me for paying for such a small job!)
