8 speed Gear box flush

The cars done 87k gear changes are a little lurching at times
Is it worth having the box flushed.
Anyone noticed a difference on an 8 speed

Absolutely. LR tell you the box is sealed for life ( but don’t define life.) then say you don’t need to do it for 150,000 miles. ZF, who make it, recommend new fluid every 50,000 miles. I do a partial fluid change myself every year and my gearbox at 60K is as smooth as silk.

Definitely get it done.

I’ve read there’s a couple of different options
Mega flush or double flush. Maybe more lol
Is it a specialist job to do the mega flush 2011 RRS facelift

Just having it changed on my old vogue tdv8 completely transformed the drive. I hadn’t realised how bad it was till I changed it. They claimed it was sealed for life but I had it done around 120k, much to the gearbox’s relief Laughing Range Rover Sport HSE DYnamic SDV6 Velocity blue 2020 MY

Go to this link for the partial fluid change (8 SPEED) but the flush is probably what you need and that requires a special machine. Lots of auto specialists do it but make sure they use the correct fluid Lifeguard 8 if you have the 8 speed box or Lifeguard 6 if it’s the 6 speed.

Many thanks for the link. I’ll have a look when I’m on my laptop.
I’ll have a ring around my way and see who does the flushes  2011 RRS facelift

8 speed flushing is not rocket science. My new machine is capable of doing the 8 speed boxes Thumbs Up

Would definitely recommend the auto gearbox flush- just had mine done at 60k purely as a preventative measure even though it was running ok. I run a couple of E53 X5’s and have had both auto oil and filters replaced at 150k . Most manufacturers claim their auto units are sealed for life but don’t define what”life” actually is. Judging by the difference between the old oil that came out and the new oil that went in I would suggest changing the oil somewhere between 50k and 100k depending on the duty cycle of the vehicle eg town or motorway mileage.

This was the oil that came out my own gearbox, at only 40k miles...

I had mine flushed by James French near Oxford this week. Had 72k miles on it at the time. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I'm looking to get mine done by Bodsy down here in Hampshire in mid to late November. Who's interested?
