Because you can't check the oil level when putting it back in as east with out a dipstick |

I had read that it may be necessary to go through a calibration of the level sensor. ( from the land rover service manual). However that may not be the case for most changes. |

You had better hope the oil level sensor is working as it is a "body off" job to get access to replace it. It took my dealer 3 days to replace mine! Under warranty, thank goodness.
