Which tracking system?

Although I have had a cracking quote to insure my forthcoming TDV8 Very Happy (£401), there is a demand that I must have a vehicle "tracker system" fitted. My wife has Tracker in the "go-Kart". My dealer has smartrak and now Land Rover do thier own Land Rover Watch stolen vehicle tracking system, which is the only one with Cat5 http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/Owners/acce..._Watch.htm .....£999 Shocked

Ive always found Tracker themselves very good, I was badgered into having NavTrack by my dealer, expensive!
you have to carry a credit card device around with you whenever you start the engine, soo annoying, especially when you forget it and Navtrack call about 6 telephone numbers to get hold of you, just to tell you the car is being operated without the card.
Something to do with Range Rovers being targets for car jacking, nice.. Something else is always something better:

If you find somewhere local with a good price fitted then let me know as I may have to fit one for insurance as well. And I am not too far away from what I guess is your location at a Hampshire air base.

I am a dreaded VRT

The Land Rover Watch is very cool though. I don't know if there are different flavors of it for different countries, but the US version does a lot more than just sending a message / email when the car is stolen. It tells you just about everything about where you have been, how fast you were going, statistics, altitude, idle time, moving time etc. Check out the unit in Adam's (offroving) Sport here in Southern California - he has had his module for a few months now as a "beta tester" for LR:

Have you heard anything about US availability? My dealer hasn't heard anything.

I went for RAC Trackstar+ from www.vehtek.co.uk as they include the first years subscription (£120) in the price of £379 making it the cheapest I could find. This also resulted in a saving of £50 on my insurance with MasterQuote taking that down to £390 full comp. 2016 RRS 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography Dynamic in Montalcino Red and Stealth Kit

Wokkaman, I raised this issue in the Insurance section. Like you, my insurers Privilege were insisting on fitting a Tracker which would've necessiated a substantial outlay. Therefore, unless you intend to keep your car for a number of years, the best option is to find a Company that doesn't insist on a tracking system fitted. I chose Kwik Fit through confused.com and insured mine for £360pa.

Makes far more sense than bolting an extra £500-1000 onto the cost of a year's insurance!!!! Thumbs Up
