Engine System Fault...

Yesterday I collected my car from the bodyshop... As soon as I turned it on, the Engine System Fault came up on the display. Turned it off, waited a couple minutes, turned it on, everything was fine.

Is it "normal" to have the fault sometime maybe because of some wrong ECU readings or should I worry?

I had serious problems with my sport , but after three attempts the problem has been diagnosed as an accelerator module problem , however it is worrying and can lead to a lack of trust in your car , hope it gets sorted quick rbr

Yeah, but my car wasn't in safety mode or anything, everything was ok... Today by the way no messages.

I thought it could have been the high temperature in the bodyshop oven that maybe messed up some electronics...

Sometimes if the battery has been discharged over a period of time this happens. Often the soft reset is all that is needed. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Sometimes a flat battery can do the systems the world of good.

I recently flattened my battery by accident and the problematic Service Indicator warning that the dealer could not erase simply went away!

Glad I didn't take the dealer's advice and replace the instrument binnacle and hand over £600. Thumbs Up L319 D4 HSE

And how can I perform a soft reset? Will I lose all the radio and car settings?

Thanks!

I'm not sure how to do it deliberately actually, but when the battery died, I didn't lose any radio stations or memory settings. L319 D4 HSE

just disconnect the battery at the terminal - I had to have a new batt under warranty. I lost my fuel consumption calcs and the radio settings, everything else was ok - i.e. personal settings for sat nav, seats etc etc.
