Hi, my GPS has the red line issue. I have gone into the hidden gps diagnostics menu and it shows plenty of activity and also have changed to an aftermarket aerial which seems to be the main issue for most people just to see is that is the issue, but no.
So I have a signal, have tried a new aerial oh and I am in the middle of Belgium after hitting the reset button in the hidden menu.
The disk is around 2015
Hidden menu self and auto check does not come up with any faults
As I say the menu shows that there is plenty of sat activity using both aerials
And still a red line, and in Belgium
Admittedly the gps is pants but I like to keep the car up to scratch so its better than nothing
Plenty of dvd drives on ebay at stupid prices but if I am confident this is the issue I would buy one

Time for a change soon and am considering another newer one although they do have an above average breakage record

I seem to recall when I upgraded mine, it reset to Belgium.

I just had to change the location in the settings menu and it worked fine.

I’m with phillh here. Had the same issue with my old Jag which had a similar system. I think the default is set to Belgium and needs to be sorted via nav settings Robin

I have reset the location to UK and I'm still in Belgium
The issue is the gps red line and resolving this. Once it is working of course it will identify my position. Why if I have a good signal and no faults have I got a red line through the gps icon ?

Well if it has a red line through the gps icon the unit is not getting a signal so there is a fault or a cable unplugged somewhere

I suppose I am looking for some guidance from someone who has had a similar deal. I mot sure if I want to shell out over 150 for a refurbished dvd if somehow there is a function that has been turned off that is not obvious

As the dvd has the gps function inside the box it is possible that this could be the issue or has anyone had this with a bad disk ?

Well no cant help but the dvd mech is know to go down but not producing the no gps signal the sat nav usually freezes and will not work i had to replace the insides of mine with a new optical drive but if you say you have a full signal something is telling a big porky again faulty disc's normally just freeze the system

I've heard that it could be worth carrying out a hard reset by taking off the battery leads etc but not sure if this is for the car of this year. I have a IID tool too which gives me full access to the cars ecu's and I guess this does a hard reset too ?
I love the car but there is always something, now and then where my Jap car has never had an issue in its 15 year live save for the normal replacement parts, not even a bulb has blown.

Maybe time for a change though I have heard that the new models are no different and can crack turbo pipes etc as the Jag does which shares the same engine
Still this is not getting the gps fixed and I can go without it to see if it miraculously fixes itself

Never hurt's to do a hard reset or post on the Disco3 site as there are quite a few people on there as well as on here plus more who may have had the same problem

when i replaced my GPS module i went through the whole process, full of joy that i'd done it, fired up the car and the same red line through GPS. just unplugged the cables again and re inserted them. all good after that. 2019 RRS P400e Autobiography

Did you have the same issues ? When you say unplugged and re inserted do you mean into the new gps unit ? One thing I have not done is taken th power cord out of the gps just the fakra and usb

Anyone got any suggestions on where to get a refurbished denso unit ? I see all these ones on ebay and who knows if their dvd drives are in good order too.

Are you sure the usb plug is in the correct way as i know when i fitted my gvif it is possible to put it in upside down

RRS not red

Well I never did get it going again. It was the straw that broke the camel's back. To be fair new or old RRS are renowned for their mechanical and electrical quirks so I made the decision to change the car and bought a 6 months old Audi Q7. Certainly hasn't got the immediate curb appeal but the drive and build quality is superb. Goodbye niggling troubles.
