Well this has well and truly confused my car changeover plan. Had planned to order a MY18 RRS again which would set me back 75k.

The Grand Tour are running a 2.0ltr F Type Coupe as their equivalent to “A Star in a reasonably priced car” this series - sounds OK on the outside and pretty quiet inside but I know that unlike the bigge engined F Types the induction sounds and exhaust sounds are electronically made.........

“Electronically made” - only insofar as controlled injection overlap and a symposer, a tube from the engine into the cabin, isn’t it? |

Don't kid yourself - other marques have their issues as well. Plenty of well-behaved RRS out there, you just don't see people reporting about them on forums such as this, only the problem children. The OPs car obviously has an issue that is causing the DPF blockages, and I wonder if it is over fuelling due to air leaks on the induction side. Not many people know that intake air leaks can cause DPF issues. So far, it would appear his Dealer has treated the symptoms rather than their root cause. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems. By the age of 50 you have the face you deserve - George Orwell. |

I do get amazed when posters compare choice of a 4WD with a car. Must be I think 4WD as fit for purpose and others think it's all about ??? M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW. |

More importantly synthetically made engine and exhaust noises. Anybody who buys cars with these should be sent to Madamme Guillotine. Any car with this is a Play Station Car not a real one.

Well I have given up hope that the dealer will ever sort this. After a regeneration sometimes just a day of driving in town (about 30 miles) can cause a blockage. The robots at JLR are preprogrammed to blame driving style. I argued that if a car with a freshly regerenated DPF cannot cope with a day's driving in town, then that car isn't fit for purpose. The technician's responded again "....must be driving style". I did ask him never to use the words "driving style" in my presence again unless he wanted to sustain some serious injuries. As rejecting a vehicle after 27 months isn't an option what other remedies can JLR offer for customers with problematic vehicles. They are probably waiting for the crankshaft to snap then they will charge you for a new engine as it’s not covered under warranty then that will probably fix the dpf problem,,,,at a price of around 20k though.

My sons two and a half year old Audi A6 Quattro 3.0 l has just had a new engine fitted under warranty after 60,000 miles at a cost of £31k so JLR don’t have the monopoly on break downs |
