Power loss

Last sunday while driving, my TDV6 suddenly lost all it's power. I had to pull over to get away from other traffic. The engine did not stop, it kept the revs at around 800-900 rpm. When pushing the accelerator nothing happened. This lasted a minute or so. I switched the engine off for restart, luckily it started and went back to normal as nothing had happened. Since then everything has been normal.

Has anyone else had similar problem?

That day this happened, the outside temparature was around 3 degrees below freezing, however, this morning was 14 below (no problem get the engine running) hence it probably wasn't the temparature causing the problem.

I suspect the quality of diesel might be the problem.

Any views on this? 2010 RRS TDV6 3,0, Bali Blue/Tan/Anigre/Dynamic Pack/Logic7/Keyless entry/Paddle

My first bit of advice is get the car seem by LR service.

Very difficult to tell what the problem might be by this post - a number of things including fuel, air filters etc could be the cause.

Get the car looked at. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I had similar issues with my RRS, engine died on me while driving up the motorway, stopped, turned off, turned back on, and back to normal.

Happened about 3 times in total, got it back to LR and they took the car's wiring loom apart or something, and took a week over it, and gave it me back, didn't happen again. Call LR assist, and get it recovered, tell them it feels dangerous to drive.. etc... don't want anything happening en route to LR..

LR Assist are great in this instance. Mention the potential dangers and they'll be right there... and you'll get a (potentially crap) rental car for the period yours is in for fix!

In case of brake down within guarantee period LR will provide 24/7 roadside assistance free of charge, loaner (Fiesta I guess). Transport of vehiecle to LR garage.

I addition LR claim to give assistance when; out of fuel, wrong fuel filled by mistake, lost keyes, locked out, flat tire etc., provided not in remote locations !!
However, wouldn't trust this is free of charge. 2010 RRS TDV6 3,0, Bali Blue/Tan/Anigre/Dynamic Pack/Logic7/Keyless entry/Paddle

Sounds like the car went into "safe mode" which is commonly brought on by overfuelling, could well be related to the fuel. Once restarted, the ECU should reset back to norm. I have had it happen on my RRSTDV6, the safe mode is not an issue to worry about, but the cause should be investigated..

I'll bring the car in to dealer shortly.
Faults like this are very hard to locallize I believe as the car probably will run better than ever when the engineer looks at it. 2010 RRS TDV6 3,0, Bali Blue/Tan/Anigre/Dynamic Pack/Logic7/Keyless entry/Paddle
