Hi

I have a 2013 L494 V8 SC. The heating for the drivers seat seems very intermittent. When selecting all three bars , I can hear on occasion a fan start to run. I assume that the heating of the seat is via hot air , rather than an element as per my last 2005 Sport.

Am I right in the thinking that this fan heats independently from t the engine, or will the heat only start to warm once the engine is at operating temperature ??

The fan seems to sometimes cut in and out and sometimes not at all ???

Any ideas please.

Pretty sure it has it's own matrix as you can have it cooled while the cabin is still set to hot

Have you also experienced only the base of the seat heats but the back of seat does not ?

No I haven't noticed that. I am sure it did work a while ago , but I can hear a fan start when I select the front drivers seat but no heat?? Prob a visit to the Dealers. Will let you know what they find.

UPDATE

I said I would give an update to Ginger978 regarding what the local dealer discovered re the front heated seats not working.

Vehicle went in yesterday.

They have said that there was two fault codes showing which has shown that both front seat foam bases have collapsed and damaged the heating elements and fans. ( both myself and my wife are fairly small and lightweight:)??? )

As far as I can understand the foam seat base is a honeycomb type construction that a fan and heating element supplies hot air to warm the base and back of the seat.

Parts on order and vehicle due in next week for repair. Will also advise how they work afterwards

Thank heavens for extended warranty as this is covered and so was the recent gear selector unlock button.

Local main dealer has been EXCELLENT.

Great to hear they have found the issue and its covered under warranty.
Strange that the base would collapse under little weight from what you have suggested.

Wish my main dealer experience has as been as positive as yours, stealerships as many have called them on this forum.
