Sorry guys only just managed to catch up on the thread! Thanks alot for all your suggestions, I'll see if I can get some autosol on them and try give them a polish up, they are just the original aliminum steps that came with the car, if all else fails I will look at having them powder coated I think.

After reading this thread, popped into Halfords today and bought cheap acid based wheel cleaner as the ally trims on the sidesteps on my car were looking shabby and stained.

+1 for this, acid based wheel cleaner brought them up a treat. Now got a coat of sealant on them so see what they are like next wash. |

I used Wonder Wheels wheel sealer. Didn’t spray directly on to the strip, I soaked a cloth with the spray and did one single wipe along the aluminium. It takes a long time to go off so best not applying it when it’s about to rain, apply under cover if you can.

I have tried GYEON Q2M Wet Coat this time as I used it on the rest of the car for speed and ease of use. I plan to machine polish the whole car in the next month or so and will use Gyeon Mohs once that’s done. |
