2018 SVR sound

I've been looking round for a while to find something, this has just been added

Anyone else find something? Seems a bit of a different sound to pre facelift and I don't see the active exhaust button?

From the MY18 Launch Brief “SVR Active Exhaust Button is transferred into the lower touchscreen. The feature is a soft button in the infotainment lower touch screen display within the ‘Driver Modes’ menu which indicates if the feature is active.”

And the car in that video sounds more like a 5.0L supercharged rather than an SVR.

Must be the button above the dynamic button that looks like two pipes. I guess it has to be an SVR since there is no active exhaust or any other exhaust setting for non SVR's right? Is that an actual SVR image? I though the front air intakes were larger and that looks like a regular sport.

*edit: you can see all the carbon fiber trim. Definitely an SVR.

It's definitely an SVR as you can see on the speedo. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

Thanks Mark and SVR575,

I did ask a friend of mine who works at LR about the soundtrack but he wasn't able to find out. Also asked my dealer and again, he couldn't find out either.

As the soundtrack is one of the most appealing aspects of the SVR I can't see it being muted or softened in any way. I certainly hope not!

Cheers

Hi JPR,

Is that view from the video clip or other knowledge?

Cheers

Does dynamic mode make a difference, or is that because it turns the sports exhaust on? I can't say I pay too much attention to mine, other than when sports exhaust is on it sounds glorious and pops and crackles beautifully.

Heard it in person. For the best sound yes. Exhaust valves open and dynamic mode which changes the rev range, gear change and throttle response. Basically beast mode. If you drive a SVR in standard mode to be fair it is on a par with a supercharged sport. Current

I find driving in "S" mode, opposed to "D" has a far greater effect than driving in dynamic mode. Revs hold for longer and seems to be greater throttle response so far more reactive. "D" for me feels very leisurely and somewhat slow to react. This is the first auto I've had and nothing beats manual gear selection. I find it hard to control the acceleration in the SVR, worse in "D", gently squeeze throttle and it gains speed slowly, floor it and your head hits the back of the seat and you are propelled forward. Hard to feather inbetween, but "S" auto is a little better. "S" manual gives me the smoothest acceleration and control, but sequential gearbox via gear stick or paddles is quite different to a manual but you know what you're going to get.

I thought dynamic mode tightened up the suspension for road driving and turned sports exhaust on, but I'm more than likely wrong.

JPR, I hadn’t realised that any MY18 SVRs were out there yet. Did you see one at a dealer and if so, which one?

Thanks

Dynamic mode changes the injector overlap too as to allow unburnt fuel to enter the hot exhaust = pops and bangs on the overrun.

Hi no at SVO. But as far as I know the first ones are being delivered in a matter of weeks anyway as my own one arrives in the next 4/5 weeks at the dealer anyway. Current
