Where’s my order...? Oh, there it is...

Hi all,

Thought I would share this with you all...

Went to Solihull this morning to enjoy a VIP Experience of the RRS factory assembly plant, and.... to see my car actually being assembled.

Amazing experience with a one to one guide for more than 3 hours. Fascinating stuff. Watched the entire process from frame assembly through to marriage with the engine and final assembly of parts.

I’m an expert now so please ask me anything you want to....

I was a little nervous about making sure I didn’t see anything conflicting with my spec. - like wrong headlining or inlays, etc. - Fortunately, everything looked according to my order. Each car that goes along the production line is an individually spec’d and personalised order with specific parts which is quite spectatcular when you think about it. They’ll make about 270 cars in the 6 hr shift I was viewing which covered FFRR, FFRR LWB, RRS and Discos mixed together.

The only issue is that having had the frame painted in Bosphorus Grey at a separate SVO Paint location in Coventry, after putting the car together today, it has to be sent back to Coventry to get the bumpers and lower side panels painted as they are put on in Narvik black for some reason. They couldn’t explain the logic to this.

Nice touch was that they let me sign the car on the bodywork which will be hidden after it’s finished. See initials in the pic attached. Also, couple of guys got me to fix some parts in and I actually installed the front left light unit - Pixel Laser LEDs no less!

Genuinely proud work force who were all chuffed that I came to see mine being made.

I guess if it has any faults when I eventually collect it from the dealer, they’ll blame me!

Oh, lastly. Mine was the only Boss Grey RR on the floor today. All the guys I spoke to were complimentary about my choice of colour which was nice to hear!

Now have the long and painful wait for final handover from the dealer which is looking ominously like first week of Jan...

Good spot. I forgot to check the HUD was fitted.

It's a little pricey but it's a one off I guess seeing your vehicle being built so worth it

What a great experience... I would do that if I could. And to install a part is amazing. Lucky you.

The colour is fantastic but I'm a little biased! I'm obsessed with it and 4 months in I'm still taking photos all the time. My wife thinks I'm mental. I love how sometimes it's very blue, others very grey, and then other times right in the middle. Almost every Sport in North America is black, white or grey so I'm happy to have something different. I can’t wait to see my car unvie led in the showroom, especially after Seeing it being built.

Good to see they’re still fitting the Brembo brakes to MY19 cars - maybe it’s just to the 5.0 V8 now as I’m fairly sure you cannot spec them on the SDV6 anymore as per my post on the subject a week or two ago...?
