First service warranty wipers?

Had my first service yesterday on my My17 l494

Car is 7 months old covered 15k mikes and has the lr service pack

No major work to be done just normal maintainance like oil plus 15 litres of ad blue

Tyres are all plus 5mm even wear one had a nail in it and brakes all fine, three software updates on air suspension, dashboard blackout and oil evaporation I think was the last one

The issue was the wipers

I asked that the rear wiper should be changed as it was simply useless you could see nothing when you used it just a huge smear on the glass

So turns out also front blades needed changing and the dealer tried to charge me for replacement 😡

It was an interesting discussion when they said it was normal wear and tear and not covered under warranty

I guess you can imagine the discussion but on a 7 month old 80k Car with only 15 k miles it’s simply astonishing that they try to do this

In the end they replaced foc but just wanted to raise the point here if any others have the same problem

Some would suggest they are replaced every 6-12 months, so wear & tear isn't really trying it on. Then again, maybe they should be on the service schedule, along with aircon regas. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

Syl would seem to have a point here. If they need to be replaced every 6 months then it should be part of service. They are, after all, a safety item ( well certainly the front ones).

I’ve never heard of it being a service item but then you’d not expect, in practice, to change them every 6 months. More like 1 or 2 years. Robin

I had my wipers changed under warranty when car was 12 months old and 4K miles (years ago now!). I didn’t ask, they just changed them. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

I struggle to see how wipers can be classed as anything but wear and tear, it just takes some numpty to drag them across a frosty windscreen and then that's them Censored .

Also just 1 sunny summer renders most non-silicone wipers done if i the cars sits outside, they get brittle.

Why should any dealership/garage be responsible for those? 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

I also had the brakes changed under warranty. Twice. And I barely used them. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
