Silicone around Sharks fin antenna

I recently replaced the GPS module inside the shark fin as per the walkthrough on here.
It recommended placing silicone around the base to create a tight seal. I put silicone around the 2 bolts area and the black bracket. Thought all was good and the back pillar head lining is wet. When pulling the roof lining down it's clear it's coming from the aerial. Took the shark fin off again - no mean feat as it was well and truly stuck in place from the silicone, and now applied silicone around the whole outer perimiter of the fin. and still the back pillar head lining is wet.

How much silicone do i need to put there, thought i was already liberal with the amount i put there.

cheers

If you used ordinary silicon ie bathroom sealant it's not up to the job what you really need sikaflex or tiger seal and put it round the base as well. If it ain't broken down it soon will
