As you get into the 2010 year you’re looking at the facelift 5.0 Supercharged. I’ve seen them as low as £15000 for the HSR so could be an option if you have the funds available. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Yes I could stretch to a face-lift model. Would it be worth the extra cash then. Is the newer model more reliable than the 4.2? |

More reliable? Probably no more or no less really. What you would get is the revised interior and exterior which many try to emulate when modifying their car. I prefer the look of the revised interior over the pre face lift but each to their own. I would suggest a test drive in both versions to make your own mind up. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Previously I had the facelift but currently have the HST 2006 4.2 which I have grown to absolutely LOVE. I’ve had To professionally polished (stage 2) and added new front grill, painted BREMBO callipers, painted rear grey plastic to colour match the car, new steering wheel. I am now very very happy

Yeah there are plenty of 4.2 models with low miles for well under £15k. May just take a punt on one of those, and bank the rest for the inevitable repairs and maintenance. I just wanted to be sure they are not as unreliable as people have told me. I've had people who've never owned a land rover telling me not to bother as it'll always be in the garage having expensive repairs. Thought I'd ask some real owners their opinions on it. Obviously a fair amount of wear and tear is acceptable on a 10 year old vehicle. But wouldn't want something too extreme. |
