Don’t think I had winter wiper mode in my 2009 or 2013 RRS1. Pretty sure it was introduced in L494. Like you, I used to just keep the wipers manual to avoid that problem. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

I try to get into the habit of turning my wipers right off before I lock up during the winter. And your winters will be far worse than mine Robin

During the winter I always have wipers on manual, saves any possible damage to arms and blades. Don't think there is any setting to disable the auto wiper based on temp. I thought the winter setting is only on the RRS2.

Thanks folks, I must've seen something in my wife's Evoque menu then as I'd thought I'd seen it somewhere, but couldn't find it earlier tonight. On that note though I'll need to prompt my wife to use it as she doesn't have any pre-heater to help out. We'll just have to start using manual wipers.
Strangely, probably not. We don't really get the hard frosts like on mainland UK, and seldom get snow either. I reckon this is possibly due to the salt air and plenty wind to blow it around keeping everything fairly well defrosted (and rusty), and our temperatures rarely drop below 2 deg C (doesn't rise much above 15 in summer though). But wind....yes we get more than our fair share of wind! 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine 14MY Range Rover Evoque Dynamic SD4 Black Pack - wife's 99MY Defender 90 TD5, Soft Top Conversion - my toy, and bairns favourite |

I was thinking of a trip to the Caribbean for a break, but now I hear what you say I'm cancelling that for a trip to Orkney. Sounds positively balmy. Robin

Yes, Evoques have a winter park position and has had since launch in 2011, L320 never had it but L494 has lways had it.

I don't use auto wipers. Indeed I disabled it on my TDV8 and will do the same on the SDV6 once I get the IID sorted out.

Yes these last few very cold mornings I have noticed the same with my L494, even though there is no frost/ice on the screens - one good thing though, hopefully the heated screens and heated mirrors will also come on in freezing fog and falling snow (not that I drive very often in those conditions) 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Big deal? It snowed even in London yesterday and today. Though only for a few minutes and only qualified as snow before landing anywhere Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Pathetic, isn’t it? Not even 3 but more like a flake and a half today though so we survived

Just over 4" of snow settled in Goathland today, in the middle of the North Yorkshire Moors, but most roads still passable with 4x4 vehicles, depends how it freezes overnight for fun and games tomorrow. Report from work colleague on NYMR. John
