Best of luck for Friday Andy.

One thing I wish I had done with mine was to protect the aluminium edge strip somehow. Obviously its the front edge of that strip gets a real battering whilst you are driving along and, on my steps, it has marked up quite badly. There may be no solution but if you know of anything (perhaps even just wax polish) that would help protect it, that would be worth investing a bit of time in. I guess ideally some sort of lacquer might be a solution but I'm out of my area of expertise here. Perhaps my steps were inferior and others come with a better finish - I don't know. But logic says that whatever you can do to protect that front edge would be a good move. Mine is already marked so that my only real solution now is to remove them and repaint the edge.

I purchased a set of side steps off eBay and I was very pleased with the quality. Fitting is a relatively easy DIY job just put the suspension to its highest setting and there is enough ground clearance to fit the steps without jacking up the car. I too put plenty of grease on the bolts and some corrosion protection on the brackets.

One piece of fitting advice, after fitting my brackets and the plastic sill covers the bracket step support legs did not fully align with the steps. So eventually I had to remove the plastic sill covers, loosen the bracket bolts and temporarily fit the steps on the brackets before retightening the brackets bolts. I then removed the steps, refitted the plastic trims and then permanently fitted the steps.

My advice would be to fit the brackets and bolts finger tight, temporarily fit the steps to the brackets to align the brackets. Then tighten the bracket bolts with the steps still attached to the brackets. Then remove the steps, fit the plastic trims and then refit the steps.

Hope this helps.
Thumbs Up Thank's Steve
This is very good advice, don't ask me how I know
