Lower Crankshaft Bearing Failure. Break or not to break?

Well my early 2010 3.0 has suffered a lower crankshaft failure.

My local indie has offered to replace engine for £6k + VAT, or £6k at home off the books without VAT. This is a very reputable, recommended indie. Who has recommended against cheaper recon engines.

My dilemma is its so close to Christmas and 2 kiddies birthdays so I'm considering breaking it.

I have other cars and can do without it for a few months.

My thinking is break it, buy a newer, lower milage one in a few months.

Am I missing any glaringly obviously flaws with my idea?

Anyone break a similar car recently? @Bodsy or @Disco_Mikey maybe, what sort of figures am I likely to get?

The problem with breaking it is you need alot of time and storage, and often get left with stuff that is hard to shift. If you have time and storage then great. More money in breaking it if you have the time + space to store things.

I have bits scattered all over the place from my TDV8 I stripped. Luckily, its all at the workshop, otherwise the wife would have had somethign to say a loooooong time ago Laughing

Quickest and easiest return is to sell complete as a non-runner
