Hi everyone.
My 2008 TDV8 has a loud whistling/chirping noise on boost. Sounds like a referee blowing his whistle.
Turbos were changed less than 10k ago so Im hoping its not them.
No smoke from the exhausts and it doesnt do it when revved at standstill?

Could it be a perished pipe/boost leak? Or am I looking at body off bill again?

Cracked inlet manifold. Got any fault codes?

Might be a boost leak, but I would expect limp mode if a hose had gone.

No fault codes or warning lights.

Starts and drives fine. Ticks over fine.

Broken exhaust manifold stud, and subsequent warped manifold...

How much am I looking at to fix?

Just took it out a run there. Wouldnt make the noise when engine was cold. Then started to do it intermittantly as engine got warmer.
Once fully up to temp was making noise all the time.

Four figures. Manifolds are £600 a piece and it's a body off job to do them. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I read the manifolds can be skimmed though so this would bring down the cost?
Wheres best place in Scotland to have the work done

And can the broken studs be visually spotted first before the body is removed

Last manifold I has skimmed was £180

Can usually be seen before lifting the body, but either way, it's a body off job to extract the broken stud and remove the manifold...

What sort of bill am I looking at Disco Mikey?
