Autowatch Ghost

Yesterday, I had Autowatch Ghost fitted by Chris Preston of Veil Tuning, Northampton (one of the few genuinely authorised Autowatch installers in the UK). Chris is the 'resident expert' on the Focus RS forum, where they have a Group Buy for this immobiliser.

As James has said on here there doesn't seem to be anything Chris doesn't know about car electronics, and I am very happy both with his installation and the operation of the system, which is very simple. I am also grateful to Chris for fitting me in at short notice because I am going away and leaving the car unattended (hence the Ghost!), especially as it turned out he was virtually straight off the plane after a holiday due to a very delayed flight! Chris has done so many of these that he can 'do them in his sleep' - well he has now almost literally proved that!! Laughing

Thanks also to James for his helpful input on this. I don't want to preempt anything, but I believe that a Group Buy may materialise on here in due course. If it does, I recommend any other 'paranoid' owners like me to get it fitted. It's the best immobiliser currently available, at a very reasonable price, and no subscription charges thereafter. If you haven't read about it, it interferes with the CAN bus operation (the communication digitising system that runs your car) invisibly and undetectably, preventing the car being stolen by key theft, key cloning, RFK (keyless) signal interception, and starting via OBD access.

Along with the tracker you may already have (now fitted as standard on some post September RRS, even if it may not be to some insurance company standards) you will be fully protected, although the need for tracking would probably only ever arise if you have a Ghost installation if you're car was towed or uplifted.

I'm on the focus RS forum & this will be going on my next car instead of a expensive tracker. This is the future in security in my mind, like you say Donny, they cannot take it even with the keys.

glad to hear the first (hopefully of many positive) reviews!

My group buy post was removed some 2 weeks ago pending a reply from the owner , which hasn't been forth coming,
no correspondence has.

I have nothing to do with veiling tuning and have no financial interest in this group buy (I might get a few beers if it does well)

It's great product and listed purely in the interest of all the owners that are aware of how vulnerable these cars are to theft.

Best

Going to be adding a Autowatch Ghost to the new car, does anyone know of a authorised dealer in the Leeds area

Those that have fitted it, or in the know, heard of anything about it been bypassed or is it still secure?

Cheers Nick Thumbs Up

thats my worry, i have searched and not read anything, but they cover all sorts of forums for loads of different manufacturers, so its hard to find answers

I'm thinking, something is better than nothing, but i don't fancy a big lump of steel steering lock floating around the car in a accident,

I have CCTV but thats just going to film them, not stop them, so is it better to have it than not Confused

The points being missed here boys and girls .

By layering your products your increasing the chances of retaining your car by many multiples .

So in this case there shouldn’t be a suggestion of tracker or ghost for example but both plus the best steering lock available.

If you can stick bollards up on your driveway or garage door then why not. Anything that’s effective at making t just too much aggro to bother with.

As for ‘ hearing’ the ghost has been defeated - give us tangible examples/ evidence - whilst I m not saying it’s not true I’ve also ‘heard’ it a few times and it’s turned out to be Censored .

Nothings undefeatable but common sense says you do all you reasonably can.

there was a video i found after Andys post on youtube that shows it starting, without the pin, though it took multiple attempts with the start button been pressed, 7 i think in one video before the car started up, now he didn't drive it or select a gear from what i saw, but still worrying that a simple repeated pressing of the start button got passed the pin code.....

I ll try that on mine tomorrow, ive had plenty of failed attempts to start it when I’ve forgotten about the pin or made a mistake, probably totally 4-5 at once in the early days or if I m just being a biff and never had a start without the pin being entered.

Interesting video though I ll give it a go in the morning . 2019 Svr and 2019 R35 GTR
