Hi,
just looking at changing to a RRS2 not sure if a late 2013 or up to a late 2015 ?

so has anybody had a 292bhp 600nm RRS2 and then a 306bhp 700nm car and could you tell the difference

the power should not be much of a give away but I would have thought another 100nm might be noticed?

Tried my first test drive and it was a 306bhp, "sounds" a lot more power full and it does pick up very well compared with our 2010 RRS1

what are your thoughts spend a bit more on the later engine.

Surprised no-one has replied to this one, but there has been lots of discussion on the forum on this subject and I think it's fair to say most people think the power increase made a big difference. (I can't comment from personal experience as I have an SDV8, but I didn't even think the upgraded V6 engine had enough oomph when I tested one!).

Ive not driven the 306 but I have a 2014 AB 292 & when I got out of my12 sdv6 their was a hell of a diffence.

My 2015MY 306hp SDv6 HSE D had a software upgrade at it's 1st service last year and it has quite sufficient get up and go now - since the service I have never needed to use the paddles or S as it just leaps away when I want to go harder. It also now gets driven almost permanently in Dynamic setting even on the mostly flat, straight A roads I drive on, it sits beautifully flat when I want to overtake. It also has lost the slight dead spot when pulling away from junctions/ traffic lights. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I did think my next car would be the FFRR 4.4 tdv8 but not now, if I change it will be the RRS2.

and now getting back in our car I feel the difference to our 3.0TDV6 and That does feel slower now

hopefully a road test on Friday in a 292 may help, but it will be only the second RRS2 I have drove

I personally have not noticed any difference at all between the 2 engines.

I`ve had both and really didn`t notice the difference

Me and my wife even had both cars side by side in a drag race and if anything the lesser powered one was slighlty quicker. HSE non pan, instead of a dynamic with pan and 306bhp

tried a 15 plate 292hp yesterday and must admit struggling to really notice a difference, it is only the second car I have drove, but did think the torque would have been more noticeable, may be I was not trying hard enough

both were nice cars to drive so don't think it will be a deal breaker either way, so 64 plate 15 plate or 65 plate is on the shopping list.

Try an SDV8, then you really WILL notice a difference!

I am in a similar position looking to buy late 2014 -early 2015 SDV6 . Just wondering if anyone can confirm when exactly the 306hp engine started production...?
(I am thinking that the 306hp engine, being an update of sorts, is less prone to the crankshaft issues - can anyone confirm that? )
Is there any way to easily tell by looking at the car which engine it has? For instance, it seems to have been introduced as a MY15.5 - is there any visual difference to MY15 or MY14.5 ? - or should I get the VIN and look in topix?

In fuel consumption & twice the price on road tax Plus they don't handle as good with being heavier on the front end.

Tyrefitter, that's 'SDV8' not petrol I'm talking about! Actually, the tax isn't that much greater, and I get fantastic fuel consumption. I know it's hard to compare driving styles, but I get far higher mileage than people on here generally report for V6 diesels - mid-30s overall and well into the 40s for long motorway journeys.As for handling, I've driven both and can't tell any difference. (Have you actually driven an SDV8, or is this an assumption based on engine weight?)
