Is there supposed to be a lid on my fridge under the hinged top? Robin

If you go for a s/hand one be careful as there are a couple of different ones, and the non fridge one will not fit the fridge one, its a different cut out by the front catch, easiest way to tell is the fridge one has sort of three divisions, and the non fridge has two if I remember correctly People on e-bay are asking more for used one's than they are new from L/R, around £20-25 from L/R.

Well no - the LR fridge does not have a lid as such as you are supposed to use the coin tray that fits the the centre console cubby without the fridge. The problem with the coin try is that it does take a fair bit of space and limits the height of items in the fridge - however the coin tray can be turned upside down giving more space and it still fits under the cubby lid. I have run some draft sealing around the edge of the cubby lid and the lit now acts as the lid to the fridge. Garry 07MY RRS TDV6 Arctic Frost Aspen Interior |

Yes that is the coin tray this goes in the cubby even when no fridge fitted. Put it in upside down and you can put taller bottles in or do away with it all together and seal the cubby lid with sealing strip and us the main lid as the top for the fridge - even taller bottles can go in.

It may well go in upside down on a pre-facelift but certainly won't on a facelift variant and still be able to close the lid.

If hardly using the fridge, don't leave it switched on all the time, just on a long run or when in use, all use extra power. John

Mine is plugged into the provided plug in the centre console - in my car this is straight 12v and is not switched via the ignition. As such the fridge needs to be switched on and off manually and I have left it on a few times but only flattened the battery once. Thankfully the fan in the unit does make a little noise and switching the car off prompts me to switch it off.

Just checked mine. It doesn't come on immediately, and doesn't appear to work just from the ignition. Once the engine is started it comes on after about 20 seconds. It turns off immediately if I turn the engine off. Ideally you would hope that it was linked to a battery condition sensor but I doubt that. However the fact that it doesn't appear to come on when just the ignition is on (no engine running) might point that way Robin

Yes then your fridge will only run when your ignition is on. That was the reason I mentioned as the internal arrangement seems different for similar vehicles - as said mine only works from the switch irrespective of the ignition position and can be left on and yours will go off with the ignition so you will not get a flat battery.
