Hi all. I have fitted a £60 daytime running light kit bought from Halfords. Made by Ring their Lyra range, easy to fit, bright lights during day, auto dim when sidelights are on. Three wires positive to battery, negative to earth and one wire to sidelight to detect night mode. The fault is that on the move they flash on and off, go out but come on again when slowing to a stop. Returned kit to Halfords fitted second kit, same fault. Phoned Ring they had no idea and could offer no help suggesting it's an alternator fault. I have no known faults with the car but now don't know how to solve problem or invest in another set. Is it the alternator or is there some sort of device that can make them work. Thanks

They sense voltage to know when to turn on, so measure the voltage when engine running and lights off and post.

They got a good earth?

Hi Andy. Yes I read up on pulses sent by car to check for bulb out issues. My car doesn't have a bulb out facility. I tried the DRL's without any connection to the side lights and just had positive and negative direct to battery posts. Fault still there. I have had a suggestion it's a pulse from the smart alternator if so why aren't other components playing up.
