RRS TD v6 - Diesel - Auto - 137K 56plate

Good morning

I've recently sent my RRS back and got a full refund. I'm looking at another now.

The test drive was good, powerful, responsive, smooth. Air Suspension rises and falls as it should. No smoking that I could observe.

After my last experience I've asked for it to be put on diagnostic. It returned 3 fault codes:

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge to share about the following:

U0416-86 (Historic) invalid data from Dynamic Control Module
U0434-86 (Temporary) invalid data from Dynamic Response Module

Not sure if these are identical modules... and...

C1A13601 Exhaust valve intermittent

I think this is to do with the Air Suspension...

There is an amber suspension warning light and a message "Vehicle Lean when Cornering".

Previous posts don't seem to cover the same scenario, so does any one have a view on this?

I haven't bought it yet.

Google the U0416 & there's quite a bit on it - likely compressor starting to fail. Probably backed up by the amber warning light.

Get them to stick a new compressor on Smile

Insist the dealer fixes all faults BEFORE you buy it. What he will be wanting to do is sell you the car and a warranty and then tell you to claim on the warranty to get the faults fixed. That is not acceptable but they all try it on. Grrrrr.....I hate car dealers . No exceptions.

Oh and the vehicle lean when cornering message implies the active roll control system is broken and this is a VERY expensive fix usually. The active roll bars are over £1500 each and take hours to fit. Other problems with the system are equally expensive.

Why do dealers think it is OK to offer a vehicle for sale with serious faults that make the thing unsafe to drive?!!!! 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

I agree. Trying to find one of these cars without something wrong is tough.

Would you buy private, even with good service history and receipts? etc...

Its roughly the same mileage as my MY07 56 plate (148k), so interesting to see how much they want for it. I would suggest no more than £8.5k as that's what I think mine is worth but its all working.

You can always haggle the price of gettting it all fixed out of them if they won't do it themselves. From reading, not sure if its the ARC (is it fitted?) but certainly compressor and probably EGRs.

Would I buy if private? Again, if the price was good enough for me to have the spare out of budget to get it sorted, then possibly. My new XC needs loads of cosmetic stuff, high mileage but is mechanically sound - the price reflected that and more, so I bought it.

You can buy OEM bars for half that price. Still a big buy though. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks for that... I can't be sure. But yes If i confirm the extent of the problem I ought to be able to get the price down.

Are we saying the "vehicle lean when cornering" fault message is separate to the C1a13601 fault code?

Thanks for that...

I can say before i drove it a started the engine, opened the window, shut the door and pressed the Control Switch several times and watch the suspension rise and fall through it's full range.

Admittedly I didn't check for oil under the car...

Youll find if the ACE system is fitted that even if the bars are leaking oil the underbody shields will catch the oil (for the front).

Lift the bonnet and check that it has the extra reservoir (lower left corner behind the headlight).
