TOPIX no longer showing a TD6 engine for the RRS? MY18 soon!

Someone just told me that according to the Range Rover Topix site, they no longer off the TD6 for the RRS and only the V8 Petrol, hybrid 4 cylinder, high output 4 cylinder, and SC V6 are available....mmm could anyone with TOPIX access confirm this?

If so it could mean a new 3.0d engine for the MY18 being announced soon?

What about the 4.4 V8 diesel - is that still on there? Current: Cayenne GTS (got fed up with waiting for LR to build my third RRS)
On order: RRS3 510e AB
Gone: RRS SDV8 AB, RRS SDV6, Vauxhall Nova 1.0, Nova 1.3 SR, Nova 1.4 SRi, Renault Laguna (why?), BMW 318is coupe (fabulous - despite having to buy a radio and tape player for it from Halfords), 323i saloon, 325ti compact (superb), 320td compact (awful), VW Golf 2.0d 4Motion (all the car you really need), BMW 120d compact (excellent), 118d compact (slow), 335d coupe (rapid)

A new 3.0 Petrol has now been added to the Velar range too:

Range Rover Velar now available with powerful new 300hp Ingenium petrol engine
The 300hp 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine, badged P300, produces 400Nm of torque and powers the Velar from 0-60mph in 5.7 seconds
Advanced engine deploys a twin scroll turbo with ceramic ball bearings to reduce friction and a high flow compressor wheel, which delivers 26 per cent more air for enhanced performance
Engine is produced at Jaguar Land Rover’s £1 billion Engine Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton, UK

There are now 2 high powered petrol engine for the Velar the P380 and the P300.

Expect to see these in the MY18 RRS Thumbs Up

Seems odd that LR have both a 300bhp and a 290bhp version of the same engine - one for Velar and the other for DiscoverySport and Evoque......... I appreciate anything is possible with an ECU map but what is the point? The 290BHP engine is already being offered in the DS and Evoque and from the technical blurb it sounds like exactly the same engine. Also interestingly with the 290BHP engine you cannot have front fog lights on the Evoque "because of the special front bumper design" I suspect that cooling or breathing may be an issue with the new engine hence the tiny bit bigger intakes being needed 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The mention of the 4cylinder hybrid is interesting. If they've got that sorted, they don't need a diesel. The electric motor gives the ability to torque-fill at the bottom end. The top end is taken care of by 295bhp of petrol engine. It also gets away from.the whole "diesels are deadly in cities" debate.

The big question for some will be whether hybrid requires the dropping of the 2 speed transfer box. Technically, you could use the hybrid system to give good low speed torque with a very low first gear. The rest of the box being used as normal.

Indeed, set it up correctly and you could use the electric system to drive one axle, the ICE to drive the other. No need for a transfer box or centre diff at all. That makes a lot of sense for most users. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Westminster council have already brought a 'D-Charge' charge in.

£2.45 surcharge for pre-2015 diesel cars parking in Hyde Park, Marylebone and parts of Fitzrovia.

The normal hourly charge in Westminster is £4.90 an hour, but pre-2015 diesel cars are now charged £7.35 per hour to park. SOLD - MY16 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic - Fire Engine Red, Fixed contrast pan roof, TV, Dual Screen, 5+2, Privacy, Noble paddles.

RRSman, I have just had a long chat with our mutual friend at LPR, and what you say about disappearing diesels appears to be right, which is a pity as petrol engines emit far more Greenhouse gas emissions than diesels emit NOx and particulate. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi Tim, I'm pretty sure they are not going to get rid of the Diesels as they have them in the other models (Velar!) what is most likely going to happen is the introduction of new powerful engines for the RRS - something had to happen for them to make the RRS more powerful than the Velar as of now the D300 Velar was quicker to 0-60 than the RRS - you can't call a car a sport and have it slower than it's younger brother Laughing

Guess we will have to wait and see what they pull out of the hat but I hope it's a 400 BHP 800 Torque monster!

You need to take a look at the new Jaguar XE Project 8 announced today............. 0-60 in 3.3secs, 200mph, 2 seats only as the rest of the cabin is taken up by a roll cage, £150,000 - developed by SVO and only 300 to be built. NOT built for one type racing more a competitor to BMW M4 GTS........ it is a road going car but I suspect also a rather rapid track day special. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I spoke to James about that last month and was offered a build slot. However I decided against as the car will be LHD hence not for me. I'm sure these will all be snapped up by speculators anyway!
