Thanks for the replies. Yes - looks as if the kerbing rib doesn't provide much protection if any. Seems to depend on the shape of the outer rim.

If your that worried why not fit some rim protectors like alloygators?

Bit of a late reply - but no I don't want to fit Alloygators because they don't look great and apparently they have a reputation for tearing and lashing around, damaging the paintwork.
