2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
Chipping by the dealer

Hi Folks,

I am picking up my new RRS TDV6 on Saturday and my first mod is to have it chipped. I am from Nothern Ireland and have contacted the Turbo Chip agent here however he does not have the latetest equipment and will have to remove the ECU, no chance I'm doing that.

The local dealer has advise me that they will do it for £800 + VAT, a little more expense but at least it would be safer.

Has anyone has the upgrade from their dealer?

Also what can I expect the 0-60 time to be after the upgrade?? What is it standard?

Many Thanks

Andy

I'm just surprised you're doing it so quickly. Most upgrade providers seem to recommend waiting until the car has about 1,000 km on the clock...I'd at least wait for 5,000 km myself just so you get past any early engine problems which you would risk not having covered by warranty if the upgrade is detected.

It only takes an experienced mechanic a few minutes behind the wheel of your car to determine if it has been chiptuned or not.... 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE, Java/Ebony/Cherry, Privacy, Sunroof, PTI, Premium Sound, SatNav, Cold Climate, Tow kit, CarStyle coded grill and vents, Tasmods, Stormers, JE Exhaust, Autobiography badge

Singletrack has a point but then if the dealer did it he should be ok! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I thought 2007 models couldn't be chipped at present?

Thanks Guys for the feedback.

I agree that it would be better to leave the car for a month or two to ensure no gremlins have come for a ride back to northern ireland.

Hopefully by then the TC agent will have the equipment to complete the procedue, I would near buy it myself, plenty of work here!

Not at all VA. The dealer has no liability under the warranty, the manufacturer does. Who does the installation has no bearing on the validity of the warranty. This is a common assumption people make when a dealer proposes the upgrade. The dealer is a licensee...and you can bet the fine print of that license agreement does not accrue any obligation on the manufacturer for the actions of the dealer (save and hold harmless...).

I stand corrected! Embarassed Embarassed However I'm sure a dealer would probably slip a repair though as long as it wasn't terminal! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I'd sooner get it done via the diagnostic socket too!
