What is this?

Anyone know what this little rectangle is under the "HOME MENU" sign ?
It never lights up (Don't even know if it's a light)

Ambient light sensor that determines the day/night display mode when in auto. Can't remember if it controls the brightness as well. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
