Reliable? yeh, right.
Just make sure it doesn't have an airbag, or floor mats, or like the Toyota I had, the fan belt snaps Just bought a RRS 06 MY HSE TDV6 136,000 miles, to be a second car to my bland, boring Mitsubishi Outlander 68 plate 2.0 petrol 4

While not wanting to hijack Rmstu's thread, this could well be relevant to him with if it's the MY12 3.0 SDV6 he's after.

I've just had mine LR dealer serviced and mentioned this delay to them so they updated the gearbox TCM-Transmission 8spd files (even though my iiDTool said it was already up to date, I have before and after ECU scans - trust, but check...) but it doesn't appear to have made any difference. What remap is supposed to fix it?

Hijack away mate all useful information. Seems like a good forum to be part of very helpful bunch.

I complained of the same thing and was told they had done a software update that had fixed this but I haven't noticed any difference.

I guess the dealer should know what the gearbox needs, but once I got home and scanned the RRS again I was surprised to see this GSM-Gear Shift still indicating an update available. It sounds worth updating, but possibly nothing to do with it, I was thinking of using the GAP Fast-Lane Service to give it a try - anybody know anything about this and could it improve the gear change hesitancy?

The delay you talk off is also called Turbo Lag.

But the SDV6 is supposed to have sequential turbo's, should this not prevent such a severe lag? I understand it, but it doesn't make sense to me. The delay is more like I had with my XF when the car had cut out on Stop/Start, that second delay to restart when there was absolutely no power at all - the RRS does exactly the same but the engine is still running.
I've experienced turbo lag with my Defender TD5, which you can hear/feel the engine trying to provide power, then the turbo catches up and your away. Might push my justification for a remap... 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

It's more to do with the gearbox not selecting first gear if you don't actually stop at junctions rather than turbo lag. If you keep rolling and then try to pull away the gearbox is in second gear. If you try to pull away a little bit quicker from rolling the gearbox shifts down to first and there is a delay as the gearbox downshifts before you feel the power applied again and then you set off like the proverbial scalded cat.

This is where the paddle shifts can come in useful (if you have them on earlier cars) as you can pre-select first gear in anticipation of pulling out quickly. You just then have to remember to change gear manually again with the paddles, or else you still look stupid as your car revs its nuts off and you curse and wonder why it isn't changing gear Embarassed I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.

That sounds like it, but I notice it more when taking off at standstill. T junction, trying pulling out into main traffic flow when you spot a space and go for it...then the space has as good as passed when the full power comes on but you catapult out anyway much to the annoyance of every other driver!

I'd just get in a raffle with those Censored paddles, I don't know which is up or down Laughing

With where I live I'd probably be aswell waiting the 20 seconds till 'rush hour' is finished, but as my wife says, every second counts... Rolling Eyes 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

Just be thankful you have 4x4, and when the power comes in you don't wheel spin!

It's a heavy car you are trying to get moving.

A petrol supercharged car wouldn't have this issue

I just sold my bow 535d e60 and started off looking at Audi A6 bitdi, then f10 535d but then I somehow started looking at 530d. after much searching, I think I want the RRS now. I had the 2.7 tdv6 MY2006 and just remembered how great the ride quality was.

Im sure you wont regret it
