Oil leak passenger side rear. Could it be the sway bar???

Morning lads,

I come seeking wisdom and guidance.... And a hope that this won't cost me a kidney. My wife noticed a small fresh oil stain in the garage and it seems to be coming from the passenger side near the back of the Rangie. I had a look underneath and it seems to concentrate around this thick rubber looking bushing. Anyone know what this could possibly be?

Cheers from Canada Smile

Is this on a Dynamic?

If it is could it be the rear ACE??

Well boys,

After weighing all my *current* options, I took a trip to Canadian Tire and got me some Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak (yeah I know, my car's gonna explode lol) to see if this helps just long enough to budget for a rear sway bar replacement unless the actuator itself can be saved in some way. As for the fluid, I bought some power steering fluid marked OEM. It's not the recommended brand but it is designed for Jaguars (according to the label). I'm willing to endure the flaming I'll get here while we schedule the repair.

Hopefully the leak will stop and I can make a trip to the dealership and pick up some fluid on Monday. Haven't used that Cheapie fluid YET, but we'll see what telltale spots show up under the car in the next 24 hours.... Also getting a WD40 smelling odour coming from the vents. DOES THE FUN EVER STOP????

Censored

It's a Land Rover, fun is essential brand value Smile
I would oppose putting this stop leak stuff in the system, since the ACE consists of very tight pipes and a delicate valve block with a filter. If the pump gets clogged with the stop-leak thingy or the tight passages in the valve block are blocked, you're a very unhappy man. Regards etc.,

Wojtek

Just checked the fluid level and now that the engine is cooler it has gone down. I put it in dynamic mode and took it out for an aggressive 2 minute run, all is well, not getting the Vehicle lean when cornering error so for now it's OK.

Like many women, she may change her mind later.

Wojtek would you know how fast the fluid fows through the system? I put the fluid in at Canadian tire and drove home, about 5 mins and then the 2 minute run in dynamic mode. Would this be enough to circulate the solution through the system?

The Dynamic Response pump runs at 6.5L/min at idle, 10L/min at/above 1000rpm. The system has 2.5L of oil in it. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Do you

Have a warranty? Mine has just been replaced at Ł1952 under Land Rover warranty. Came up as an advisory on the MOT

If I had a warranty I would not be putting stop leak in the system... Rolling with laughter

Seriously though, my warranty expired feb 2016 but the service manager and I milked that sucker till the very end. Even two days prior the the date of expiry I managed to get a new windshield out of it. All things considered I'm pretty sure I racked up well over 30,000 CDN in warranty repairs. I'm not complaining at all. Great service and they covered EVERY LITTLE THING except for the battery. 10 out of 10 in my books. I've heard the horror stories about some of the LR dealerships out there and I'm glad our local LR treats their clients this well.
