EGR valves again

Chaps, I posted about the Restricted Performance red triangle which was diagnosed by RAC as EGR valves about 2 weeks ago. Since then the red triangle and Restricted performance (and also the amber engine icon) have been coming up on the dash 75% of the time, and ACTUAL slight hesitation on acceleration has only very occasionally happened. However, I'm booked in this Wednesday for the garage (non JLR but very good on RRS) to strip down and look at them. With it being a TDV8 the strip down is considerable, so if I am called on Wednesday to say they are all coked and a clean will do it, do I ask them to change them nonetheless? What is the cost of the parts? Bearing in mind the strip down will be fairly costly in labour do I go whole hog? I'm getting no white smoke or complete stops (yet).

Wouldn't it be just as cheap to have them removed and re-map the engine, they can't go wrong again then.. Thumbs Up

I thought TDV8 EGRs couldn't be removed....? Unlike TDV6 ones which can be.
Remove old ones. Fit new ones from Advanced Factors (forum discount). I would not refit the old ones despite any "assurances"

I'm not 100%, but I thought the v6 could be removed and that was that, but the tdv8 had to be re-mapped. Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

Thanks all. Dr Rob that's a handy site. The 3.6 EGR's are £250... Evil or Very Mad In words of two syllables what does a re-map do Embarassed

Tells the engine that it doesn't need the egr valves to run properly.
