That game that blokes play...filling up as late as possible

I don't know why I do this, especially as my fuel doesn;t cost me anything, but I like to see if I can get even more miles out of a tank and see how close to being totally empty I can get it...daft I know.

Last week took the cake.

I have an 88litre tank.

I pumped in 87.3 litres.

I estimated at my average mpg on that tank of fuel I had 2.4 miles left to go before I came to a stop...

Here's the receipt to prove it. Can anyone beat that?

haha.. this is really strange.. but i do find myself pushing the miles left clock as well.. have got it showing 0 a number of times before filling up ..but its just pure laziness to be fair.. i sometimes can't be bothered to stop, especially when its freezing like it is right now.

My parents always get really Censored off with me.. always drive their cars and leave them on the drive close to empty etc.. not on purpose, just the way our cycle of driving works out..
they are going to be well i impressed when they come back off hol, both the A8 and C class have drained tanks sitting on the driveway.. and i've not touched them since my 335d arrived.. hehe..

I realised the other day, first time.. we have all had diesel cars!

Oh well, will go and get them topped up before they get back, otherwise i do think they will kill me..

on the way back from the Merc day my display went down to 0 - started to panic a bit in a queue of traffic about 2 miles from the petrol station so turned the engine off in the queue - when I started up again it was back up at 15miles to go Smile

yeah in the c class, when you drive that on the light, the lighter you drive, the more the miles show, so it does go up a lot if you take it easy etc..

But in the RS4.. the figures never went up! when its gone.. its gone..
335 is performing quite well so far, free diesel from the dealer always does though right!

I am on first name terms with the staff at my local Shell. I always fill the 5 up with V-Power, spending currently £250 approx a month on petrol Laughing

I think I need a Diesel Laughing

Saying that I picked my 5 up from being serviced one time and was around 4 miles from petrol station...range was saying 4 miles...needless to say I ran out in the middle of Beaconsfield Laughing I'll learn from that mistake. Michael Potter

United States 2006 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Chawton White

The one time I let the range go down to zero a couple of weeks ago, I ran out of gas about 20 seconds later, less than a 1/2 mile from a gas station, just as I was exiting the freeway. The computer doesn't f*ck around with fuel engines! I have filled up with as much as 23.2 gallons before (that's 87.8 liters), but now I start sweating profusely every time my range gets below 20, I know am only a handful of engine revs away from a AAA call.
