Yet another: HDC fault, SP Off, Car lowers - Battery issue?

Morning All,

Apologies, im only on here when theres a problem - not very sociable Sad

Anyone advise? I'll try and summarise....

- HDC Fault warning appears on startup but on restsrt has always gone away
- On weekend changed two front tyres
- Long drive Friday/ Sat and then had HDC Fault, Special Programs Off and car lowers

If i stop, turn off and restart car all is fine, suspension goes up/ down and holds for around 30mins of driving then ping, messages pops up on dash and car lowers... turn off, on, all is well...

The car turns over well and good crank form battery. NOTE: A week ago i was working on car all day (doors, open, lights on, doors open, etc...and killed the battery, put on trickle charge overnight and turned over in morning realy well with no HDC fault...but now im having this SP Off and suspension issue... any thoughts?

Many thanks

Gareth

Hi Disco_Mikey,

Agree - im in the process of searching this site (as we type) for advice on purchasing my own reader. I see youve commentaed previously on simular subject.

Paying an indy £80 for a diag' isnt too unreasonable but the amount of times i could have done with of these things myself, it would pay for itself.

Any recommendations sir?

kr

Gareth

IID as above Thumbs Up

Most members are happy to read fault codes for a few beer tokens. Only you can decide if it's worth spending that much money to read your own codes Thumbs Up

I had similar issues on my SC, turned out to be a 4 wheel alignment was needed, the car basically thought I was constantly going round a corner,, in my case it was as a result of worn bushings on the lower wishbones but the tyre change could have somehow put the car out of alignment slightly.

Yours may be diffferent to mine but that could be an easy check, most places do free alignment check and if it needs sorting I only paid £50 for a 4 wheel laser alignment

Afternoon All,

Just a quick update for closure and maybe of some help/ use to someone in the future.

After help from Geoff ( Thumbs Up ) a 4 wheel alignment, new tie bars, front control arms and anti-roll bar bushes it would appear the issue with the car lowering and 'special programs off' warning has gone away. Bow down

On a side note - it has been identified that the HDC error on car start up (HDC does actually work however) is down to the battery on its way out - so if anyone is gettign the same issue - get your battery checked before you worry too much.

So there we are.

The car now rides smoothly, no errors (for now) and is knocking free.. whohooooo

Thanks for all the support and advice

Gareth
