Re.Engine System Fault

Hi Lads
Just an update, at present running a Turbo cleaner through the fuel ,the car appears to be running better so I suppose it can't have done it any harm. I did Have the Fault up a couple of times while carrying this out but this time it was a Special Programs off and into limp mode.

Hope to go back in tomorrow and have another look at the Turbo actuator.

Still looking to also change the Turbo hoses and have seen Bearmach set BA2341 : Silicone Turbo Hose Kit Blue with the protecting socks and new jubilee clips from Totalparts at £98+vat ,take it these would be adequate.

Only other thing I have noticed which has been there for quite sometime is quite a drone from inside the car down around the Turbo area when accelerating from lower speeds, any ideas if this could be a leak in one of the hoses down at the Turbo. Confused
I couldn't see any leaks in these the last time I was in at the actuator.

Cheers Jock Thumbs Up

Re Engine System Fault.

Hi Lads another update

Checked the Turbo Actuator again and sprayed it up ,but all felt fine on original check. I have run the Turbo cleaner through the car and was on holiday for a week and put about 750 miles on it using also V power Diesel.

Again during these miles I had the faults up around 8-10 times but they differed between Engine System Fault and Special Programs Off both resulted in Limp Mode and cleared again when the car was switched off and back on. Not sure if it was coincidence or not but when I thought I was coming to an area when the fault would occur I was selecting Manual and dropping a gear to try and help and the fault never came up. Confused

The fault has came up again a couple of times in the last week ,A friend in a nearby garage has offered to do a smoke test on my Air pipework and hoses/Intercooler in the next week or say. So will see how that goes.

Cheers Jock. Big Cry

Hi Andy

Pushed the car on today after tightening the hoses and still feel it is performing well. When the fault comes up the car appears to keep the power for a very short time and then when you slow down it appears to go into the limp mode with very little power and won't rev.

If I stop and put into neutral it will rev up as normal ,so that baffles me a bit too.

Hi Jack

I am having very similar issues to the ones described here, however I have found that although there is no fault on the MAF the actual live data is recording 0.00 which in my mind means that this is being bypassed in someway. I am at the garage next week so hopefully get to the bottom of it - Please let me know if you find the same non activity from the MAF?

Re Engine System Fault

Hi Joe

Thanks for the reply ,I still haven't got to the bottom of my fault. I am hoping to have a smoke test carried out in the next few weeks to check all hoses and Intercooler. If that seem okay then I am going to pop it up and leave with Mikey to try and track down.

Not sure how to get the readings from the MAF. Not sure if you could advise me on that. And again if you do find anything else with yours if you could let me know that would be great.

Cheers Jock Thumbs Up

Hi Jock

if you can attach a decent OBD reader you should ber able to see all the live data and the MAF should be reading in between
2-9 dependent on acceleration however if like mine it is reporting 00.00 Ib/min which means it is not even at the party.

I have it booked into whites Landlover specialist in Dalry Edinburgh on Monday so hopefully get to the bottom of it then. Hope you get to the bottom of your issue also.

I am just over in Livingston.

Cheers
Joe

The MAF reports values in g/s Confused

If it's reporting 0 reading, is there any reason why you suspect it's not a faulty MAF?

Re Engine System Fault.

Hi Joe
Thanks again for keeping me up to date, I don't have a OBD reader that would read this at the moment. If you don't mind keeping me up to date with how you get on that would be great.

Mike as I had mentioned I hope to get Smoke test done in next couple of weeks ,Failing that will be in touch to see if you can book me in to track down fault bud. Thumbs Up

Cheers Jock.

Hi Mike

This is with a brand new MAF, in total I have used three all with the same issues being maintained.

The MAF seems to be either not being read by the ECU or there is an electrical gremlin somewhere.

Then you have either a wiring issue to the MAF (most likely) or an ECU fault (highly unlikely)

Thumbs Up
