Wales 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Lux Sumatra Black
Gears don't change up in cold

Just a quick question.
Is it normal to not be able to put the gear up above fifth gear when very cold, or even just -2c even though revs are well above 2000rpm, it shows it's in gear selected, say 7th using flapper paddles, but is still in 4th. Gear.
Once engine is warm it does drop into correct gear, but not just noticed this before.
Thanks. John

I would say normal, mine does the same and wants to hold gears longer until it has abit more heat on the temp gauge Thumbs Up 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

I seem to remember it being a strategy to speed up engine warming. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
