Spare tyre size

Hi all, I'm running my 20'' rims on General Grabber 45 profile tyres as I need off road capability on farm tracks. Will my transmission complain if I need to use my 19'' spare which has a raised profile to match the 40 profiles originally on the 20'' rims? Thanks all

The spare 19" emergency spare is for occasional use only, matches the 275/40/20 correctly, and limited to, from memory, maximum of 50mph
Not sure if profile is same as indicated above, as I was told having 40/45 spec tyres on car is dangerous and will damage your car long term. John

Maybe the new sports are different, but the older ones all have a normal wheel, well mine certainly has, and not a space saver and therefore none of the limitations of using one. 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater Smile)))

Thanks both, yes mine has a normal spare wheel not a space saver (black steel with 19'' tyre) which suited the 20'' rims with 40 profile tyres as a spare, but the 45 profile has a larger rolling circumference Confused

That might cause issue with the traction control system, as it may "see" one wheel behaving differently from the others. 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater Smile)))

Thanks Shakeapaw, that's slightly what I was thinking. I wouldn't leave a wheel of differing rolling circumference on the vehicle for long but I guess it would only take 2 minutes to make gearwheels spit out the back in protest if it was an issue! I guess one could assume it will be okay as it would be the same as going round and round a roundabout for hours on end?! Confused

Hi gents, I'm running 20" alloys with 275/40/20 tyres and need a spare. Looking around on ebay does this fit the bill;

Sadly an awful lot on E Bay are nicked from under our vehicles. Got myself a plate to stop the idiots but plenty still being taken. I've had two RRS with 275/40/20 wheels & tyres, and the spare has been a 19'' rim with bigger profile tyre on both. So, I cant see how a 20'' rim with such a large profile as that one will be compatible? I'm no expert though...
