HELP!!! Transmission Fault 2010 RRS S/C Petrol

Hello all,

I feel a little foolish and I fear this may cost thousands... This morning coming into work I felt the car shifting roughly and tried sport manual mode to see if I could control the shifts a little better but it still seemed to "pop" into gear and would even shift from 2nd to 3rd automatically while in manual mode and finally, up came a transmission fault and the car went into neutral. I coasted to the side of the road and put it in Park, then tried Drive again and no go. It was still in Neutral. Last hope.... I turned the engine off and restarted and the car worked normally again but i know this is a stern warning that something is wrong.

While sitting at my desk trying to make sense of all this I remembered a burning smell that definitely wasn't motor oil. It smelled more like an oily rubber burning smell. Stupid me, I just ignored it these past few weeks so I'm wondering if this could simply be the result of a leak somewhere.

Starting to feel my wallet deteriorate here lol. Aside from low tranny fluid and a possible leak would there be anything else that could cause this fault to pop up? Can anyone please help?

Before panicking I would get the fault codes read. The gearbox and torque converter hold a lot of oil so it would need to be a fairly significant leak and you would notice it on the floor.

10-4,

No significant leak on the floor noticed so far. In fact I haven't seen a single spec of oil on the garage floor. I don't have my IIDTool with me at the moment but rest assured it will be the first thing I do when I get home. Can you blame me for panicking? I'd have to sell my left kidney for a new transmission.

Rolling with laughter

Update:

SO it looks like I am blind.... Upon further inspection of my garage floor I noticed a lot of small oil drip stains so it was clear that I have a tranny leak somewhere. Lat night I had to have my car mounted on a flat bed and taken to the dealership to have the leak checked. Fortunately my service manager was able to fit it into his schedule on such short notice and I got the car back by 4pm today. The culprit was corroded Transmission coolant lines. Total damage; 733.00 CDN, not bad Smile
