Engine Faults

So I got me an IID thingy as car is running sluggish, with no oomph when pressing the loud pedal and struggling to go up steep slopes on motorways etc.

Also seems to hold gear a bit longer and sometimes slow on change ups/down.

Anyway, got the below. Any ideas as to the issue? Turbo actuator is a possibility obviously

Engine TDV6

P2199-21 (6C) Intake air temperature 1/2 correlation - General signal failure - signal amplitude<minimum
P0114-27 (28 ) Intake air temperature sensor 1 - circuit intermittent/erratic - General signal failure - signal rate of change is above the threshold

Most likely a dead MAF, but very slight chance it could be a wiring issue to the MAF sensor Thumbs Up

Good point, well made Smile

I will do the MAF, take if for a blast down A2 & see if that cures it. MAP clean is just for maintenance.

New MAF arrived, fitted it in like 10 mins, cleared codes and tried to go for a blast down the A2, which was absolutely jammed & now under average speed cams. Anyway, lagged back a bit and booted it a few times, giving it large from low revs/high gear and it *seems* to be a lot more lively and responsive again. Bottom line is that there were no faults showing after my little jaunt, so fingers crossed its all back to normal again Thumbs Up

Will try & give it a little toot around the M25 tomorrow Smile

Was going to do a "How To" for a MAF change but it was so simple...

MAF sits between air filter and big tube for intercooler.

Unplug the plug from the MAF, unscrew the jubilee clip between MAF and tube, unscrew the lid of the air filter and lift off.

There's one bolt that keeps the MAF firmly attached to the lid of the air filter, remove that, twist MAF towards you and pull away from filter housing.

That's it - just put the new MAF in and repeat the process in reverse.

Alternatively, if you're just cleaning the MAF, do so with specific MAF cleaner ensuring you never actually touch the MAF

Thumbs Up

Thanks DM, good call. I was able to give it a more "spirited" drive up to Suffolk at the weekend. Hard acceleration going up long hills on M11 from 50 it wouldn't have managed before MAF change, no longer holding revs instead of changing under acceleration, tickover down etc.

Just checked IID and no faults Smile

Happy bunny again, just need to find out if I've got a front diff issue Shocked Big Cry Rolling Eyes
