I have run my supecharged for around 5K miles on shell premium unleaded and now I'm undecided about trying regular for a period which is why I started on premium in the first place so that I could feel the difference when downgrading to regular.

I have 2 questions:

Dealer says run regular as fuel in USA is poor quality and those cars run fine so why waste extra cash??

Second:

If you run on premium which of the two stations do you prefer, shell or BP?
I have predominantly used shell but on a trip last week to Scotland I had filled up 4 times using BP and thought it felt better, however had I been blindfolded whilst filling up would I really had "felt" any difference, I'd love to hear any examples from you guys?

It is all, whatever brand, refined and produced to the same BS or ISO or whatever it is standard these days. I have never found any difference at all between BP/Shell/bog standard supermarkets. Only slight variation in additives vary between outlets.

And the JLR petrol engines should be perfectly happy on "normal" UK unleaded. Not sure if they actually make more power using premium, will be interested to see what you feel. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

don't know about RRS but Scooby drinks Sainsbury's super

Ive run my last 3 cars on super unleaded, over about 6 years, Optimax is generally the most consistent, tescos is the least consistent. My audi mis-fired if you ran it on regular, so it was very noticible if it was on the wrong fuel, generally it didnt like supermarket fuel, the best was Shell and BP from busy stations in areas with lots of high-end cars. My assumption is that there isnt enough turnover of fuel at the supermarkets so it goes off (or they weren't very good at putting super in the super tank).

I wonder why porsche think it's important, my macan wanted super so I wonder why JLR don't think similar, is it because porsche engine's are better in any way? Are Jag owners urged to use super in their F types etc?

I use pump diesel and works real well! M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

I don't think it would do the OP's Supercharged much good!!!

Tesco momentum was always great in the 997 turbo. 99 octane.

My dad always used Golden Esso Extra 5 star, and redex "shots" back in the 60's & 70's. current 2015 hse dynamic, grey.
