Airbag sensitivity?

Hit a deer this week Crying or Very sad
Insurance company is now considering either repair it or redeem it. What makes repairing expensive, is that driver's and codriver's airbags exploded Shocked Nothing but plastics broken in front. (all plastics, btw) And windscreen broken by blewn airbag...
Come on, it's almost same than hitting a pedestrian, when thinking about weights. +2500kg's hitting under 100kg's of flesh and bones. Why the Censored did they blew? My strong opinion is that they shouldn't have and that was also repair company guy's opinion. Speed was around 40mph.
It's different when hitting something harder and heavier. I barely felt that hit behind the wheel. But airbag explosion was loud, my god.
That animal jumped right in front of car from the dark forest, I barely got time to realise it's a deer and bang. Banging Head

It's a pity if they redeem my RRS, since I have renewed so much of it, air springs, compressor, webasto, rear brakes... it's in very good shape now.
And I love it Big Cry

Hood is ok, it's just opened.

sorry to hear that.

Did you have a passenger in the front seat?

Was it the passengers airbag that broke the windscreen? If so I think I will turn mine off !

Yes, I got my wife on passenger's seat and yes, it was airbag which broke that windscreen. It pops quite upwards thru the dashboard.
