V6 or V8

Evening all

Just discussing options with dealer, and stuck on engine size. My last 2 RRS's were V6, but interested in the V8.
What are pro's and con's.....general feedback needed guys.

Thanks in advance Why wait till tomorrow, when today is already here!

I would go Petrol 5.0 supercharged but then it took me two SDV6 cars to realise my error.

SDV6 engine isn't good enough for the weight of the car in my opinion to sluggish to pull away.

Cant comment on the 4.4

Have a look at the specs on the LR website - hardly anything between the V6 and V8 so personally IMHO I don't see the point of the V8!

V6 - 0-60mph in 6.8 secs 700nm Torque

V8 - 0-60 in 6.5 secs 740nm Torque.

Go figure!

The TDV8 is old school, the SDV6 is awesome, my fave JLR engine aside the the petrol 5.0 AJV8. Interesting the comment above about the V6 being a slouch, not at all, suits the car. Other opinions are that the TDV8 is such a heavy lump, it affects handling and nimbleness....

So agree, no point with the V8 unless you go petrol... Gone:

Who other than boy-racer van drivers and bikers floor the accelerator at lights?

All that achieves is arriving at the next light looking like a silly, immature boy racer.

And for that you need a V8. RRS (MY13) Santorini Black SDV6 HSE luxuary

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

My 2015MY SDv6 HSE-Dynamic went into the dealership for a new windscreen in November and at the same time the service guys carried out a software upgrade to an ECU and when the car was handed back it was a different beast - it wasn't a slouch before hand but just occassionally it would hesitate on pulling away, just briefly, now it pulls away beautifully every time, leaps away when you want to overtake and you can do it D rather than shifting to S. Downside............... increased fun = increased fuel consumption, not drastic but mpg has dropped a little since. The difference is what I imaging remapping feels like. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yes Phimlw, you are correct I don't have an SVR and neither do I see the reason for not the value in an SVR.

I don't race from traffic light to traffic light and driving legally I will arrive anywhere at the same time as any SVR.

I can well afford an SVR but thank goodness I am sensible enough to say NO to metioric depreciation and rotten JLR build. RRS (MY13) Santorini Black SDV6 HSE luxuary

Good decision. Don't forget that the VED for the V8 will be double that of the V6 this year! Not a huge financial decision but it does count for something.

The ved is nearly double now for a V8.
