My mirrors seem to have a bit of a mind of their own

My door mirror seem to move of their own accord Very Happy It's fine, I mean I can just adjust them each time it happens but it seems quite random. I have memory seats but it doesn't seem related as sometimes they'll stay in the position I left them, and other times they've completely angled themselves towards the ground.

It happens whether they're set to dip in reverse or not.

When you go into reverse gear, they do switch themselves downward for easier reversing, perhaps triggering for some unknown reason. Can't help with cure, I'm afraid, but someone who may know will be along shortly. John

Yes I have that set in the settings but it was happening before I changed to that option. Currently I have the dipping mode activated on reverse, and then when I select drive or park, they go back to where they were, or somewhere close to where they were.

It's like my car has short term memory loss Mr. Green

Wait for other replies, but often a battery reset (disconnect leads). will sort out these things, just like rebooting a computer.
Batteries not working at full potential/old can give out loads of weird quirks too. John

Ah okay so remove the battery leads and wait several minutes? I might get the battery checked and/or replace it anyway as I'm not sure how old it is.

Yes for leads off, I leave ten minutes, but that's me Embarassed
As said hang on before changing battery, as other members may know this fault.
Keep us informed of how you get on please. Smile John

Hi,
sounds like the Memory Module starting to act up
a previous car did this random alterations of the mirror settings
we did use our own keys so the car remembered which seat position to set depending which car opened the car (Lazy entry) but the mirrors did sometimes have a life of their own.
It was put down to the module which ISTR is under the drivers seat Question or in the boot Question have a search on here should be more details.

We lived with it with a plan to change it when it finally failed

Thumbs Up

To 'restart' your RRS computers you will neet to disconnect the power leads from the battery and touch them together, this purges the system.

It might work but you could be in for an uphill battle:

Thanks, I actually only have one key but didn't realise what the Lazy Entry was. I was a bit confused when I saw it on the screen actually lol.

I've just picked up a brand new Bosch battery for the car so I'll fit that soon. I know it probably won't solve this issue, but the responses to this thread got me thinking I don't know how old the current battery is etc. Plus Costco will allow me to return it if it makes no difference at all.

When you say "touch together" I'm worried about blowing my ECU. I've seen the PowerfulUK guide but they use a resistor cable. Is this what I need? Sorry to sound dumb but having had cars for years that have been under warranty, I seem to have lost any of the mechanical ability I previously had!! Mr. Green

I have the same issue with my 2005 RRS, quite often the n/s mirror will move by itself when the car is parked up and locked. Drivers one is fine. Mirror dipping when reversing is switched off. I think it must be the module as I have recently replaced the battery and checked the alternator and its still doing it occasionally.

I will try and track down the module (if anyone knows where it is) and check all the connections, other than that I may set it in the right position and pull the fuse.
