Yeah it's really very poor. I drove soooooo carefully on the way back just see what it could do. A mixture of cruise and traditional and not really going faster than 75mph and it did a paltry 31mpg. I drove my old mans 3 year old SDV6 on a similar trip on the same roads and we got 37mpg from it. And that's the older engine that is meant to be 10% worse ! He had had 43mpg coming from Ilkley to Kent driving it super carefully. I'd have needed to go a constant 40 mph to get that !

Anyone heard of something so drastically out on a new car? I know all cars get better with age, but this is so bad I think it might be over fueiling or something. I even thought maybe the tyres are unidirectional and on the wrong way.

The roads are like glass on the french autoroutes and also there was ZERO wind. Totally still and calm.

What does anyone think?

ICTP is glitchy by the way.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I think your engine is still very new and possibly needs another 1000 miles on it. I live in Scotland but take delivery of my new cars from West London - I must admit that I did get in excess of 37mpg (by calculation not on the trip computer which is about 15-20% over-generous!) driving my SDv6 home in March 2015. Do you have Adaptive Cruise on your car because I found that had a bad effect on my mpg when I had it on my last RRS as it tended to apply the brakes if a car cut into the forward alert area in front of the car, so it could re-establish the set distance between the cars. I have a conventional cruise on the present RRS. On previous new Range Rovers I have noticed that the ECU seems to be programmed to change the engine tune and gear shift points at 1000 miles and 3000 miles and the fuel consumption improves noticeably at those miles. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi Tim

Yes it has adaptive cruise. But it was so quiet on the roads that this really didn't make much difference. But on completely flat road at 70 mph it was hovering at only 29-32mpg.. that's seriously not right. Just a small hill and its down to 22. I even thought I'd got the SDV8 at one point!! But it isn't as the tank is not that big. It does feel even from new way more pokey than the 306bhp one I test drove recently. Quite curious all in all.

Its now got 960 miles on it after the trip to France and back. So see what happens but I think I might take it in to check what the electronics are saying as for me its as though something is wrong.

Alex

Mine is the 306bhp version too and recently had TSB Q634 applied which made it feel a lot more lively than before but also the mpg has taken a bit of a hit, down from an average of >36 to around 33mpg in normal fast A road driving which is a bit disappointing but the new found response is more than making up for it! I live in the sticks and never use the car for commuter driving as I don't need to commute to/from work. Local town is a small market town too with three sets of traffic lights so not a lot of stop start driving either unless I go into Glasgow (nightmare at the moment and Park and Ride is better for the fuel consumption and my blood pressure!). As a new built car yours should have the Q634 upgrade already applied at the end of the production line. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi,

Wait till "about" 5000 miles then....Woo Hoo!

Though LR won' admit it, the Tech at my Dealers confirmed to me that there's is a"running in map" on the engine.

Mine reset itself at about 5200 miles and there was a marked improvement in mid-range performance.

Dynamic mode from a standing start using 1st gear is amazing Very Happy Very Happy

I noticed that exact phenomenon too.

At 5000 miles on the dot, the engine came "alive".

It was 10,000 miles in the last two Jags. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Interesting , my son in law dropped around in his new V8 diesel Toyota Landcruiser , it was running 14 mpg as a new car. personally I am getting about 30 mpg out of mine driving it like I stole it, and when one thinks what you have to pay for this car fuel economy isn't a big part of the cost. I get better MPG than my V10 R50 and seem to go more than a week without a refuel. Do think since last service the economy has got a little poorer but I take this for the nuch improved performance. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.
