Footwell like a bath! Full of water - FIX

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd share this experience in case it helps. So I recently purchased a 2005 HSE RRS and within a couple of days I noticed under the rubber mats the carpets of both front foot wells were soaking wet. The left side worse than the right side.

A few google searches and I came to the conclusion that the sunroof drain tubes were blocked. There are 4 drain tubes on the sunroof, 1 in each corner. I poured so water into the little channel at the front of the sunroof and noticed that I was seeing very little water dripping on the floor on the left side and no water dripping on the right side - an obvious blockage. I found out that the end of the drain tubes are behind the side air vents on both sides. I popped the air vents off, the dummy side is easier to access the drain tube which is sticking out. I used some green garden wire and cleared as much grit out of the tube as possible, I also noticed the valve (end of the tube) was fairly well closed making it difficult for the water to drain out so I took a pair of scissors and cut around 5mm off the end of the tube which left it fairly open. I repeated this to the drain tube end behind the opposite side vent which is harder to access because of the air vent. I pulled the vent to one side as much as possible and removed plenty of grit from the end of the tube using the garden wire. I also cut 5mm off from the end of the tube. The tube end behind the air vent is tucked up behind the sponge. Just take the sponge out to access the tube end.

I went back to the sunroof and poured some water into the channel.....low and behold the water poured out the end of the drain tubes and onto the floor! Smile No more wet footwells! I put the side vents back and dried out the carpets using a little fan heater. They have been dry ever since. I hope this helps.
