And devalue your car Confused When I had problems with my car I spoke to the people in charge - not LRCS in a sensible and reasoned manner, it worked. Slagging the car off in a newspaper advert isn't likley to bring the best out of them. He reads here too.

I think we need to make a survey of peoples problems then address the powers that be at L R HQ?

They're only wheels, buy a decent set if you want to go offroad

Pelma you say buy a decent set of wheels for offroad, but the stormer alloys are supplied By L/R for the RRS and therefore should be fit for the purpose and that includes offroading otherwise there should be a warning with them explaning about how easy it is to damage them, either that or dont advertise the RRS is excellent off road or dont sell the wheels. some of my Previous cars

I think it is difficult to define what is a harsh off environment. I seem to recall NeilR went round Tixover and did no damage to his Stormers, yet you can drive somewhere like where I live and easily mark your alloys with flints in the mud even if you were driving 17" wheels. You can just as easily slide into a tree or a ditch, does this mean LRs are not suitable for offroad driving? No it means driving offroad is a harsh place for a car, if you don't want to run the risk of damaging your car don't do it, at best get a second set of wheels that you're not worried about marking. I don't think we need to go down the McDonalds coffee cup route do we?

Who wants to take a £60k car " off road " - not me - maybe the odd field & beach...................... maybe Confused . As good as the RRS is- if money was no object - great. But I would choose a 2nd hand or even 11th hand purpose built vehicle

However - I am amazed at how easily the 20" stock alloys have become damaged on my S/C simply driving around as normal. Never happened on my previous cars Confused

My car is over 12 mths old too now Sad BUT it has been back to the dealer a couple of times already post the 12mth period we are talking of here = all issues resolved/fixed. In fact its going back in on Thursday of this week to have replacement tensioners on the windscreen wiper arms. This is apparently the cause of the noisy/squeaky wipers. Also having the replacement solenoid fitted to eliminate the click click click noise I have now started to get each time I put my foot on the footbrake before selecting a gear from P [ it never used to make this noise ]

All this aside - I love the car & would by another tomorrow Thumbs Up

Rather than club together to spend £50k on an advert slagging off Land Rover, I suggest we club together to buy RRUK's car off him and put him out of his misery.... Cool RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

i have several issuses with mine but i still think its a great car and would buy another one tommorow , if you could get a V8, im now going to order a 2008 model next year, i live out in the sticks and have a 1/4 mile very rough driveway at home, it really annoys me that i have two damaged 20 inch stormers from normal and moderate driving.

The car is portrayed as an offroader aswell as a road vehicle, I personally wouldnt take mine seriously off road, i have a L/R90 for that, but would expect that it would do a certain amount of light off road driving without doing damage or bits falling off or something knocking, obviously accidents can happen and if you take a vehicle off road you run the risk of sliding into a tree or worse but moderate off roading shouldnt be a problem.

From reading all the threads about problems with peoples cars and there dealers, it would appear that it is L/R and some of the dealers that are not doing there after sales job properly and this lets the L/R product down.

I susspect that most manufacturers have similar problems with there after sales backup, but you must remember that we are only reading about a small number of problems compared with the amount of L/R products out there and the amount of happy customers that L/R have.

L/R service may not be the best but Land rover is still the best 4X4 in the world some of my Previous cars

The problem with the RRS is that it is almost too good looking and urbane (which is why they are selling so well). There is nothing remotely agricultural or utilitarian about them, making it all the more painful when its appearance is slightly diminished. You wouldn't think twice about scuffing a Defender or a Disco but the RRS is on another, slightly more precious level.

I suspect RRS owners will always be a slightly tortured lot because of the RRS' bling appearance and dual on-road/off-road capabilities which sounds great on paper, but in the real world, conflict each other.
