Test driving new car?

Hi all

I just wondered, but has anyone asked to take a test drive of their new car before actually accepting handover?

I never have, regardless of make or model, but if any of us buy a used car we always test drive prior to even discussing a purchase.

The reason I ask is that if I had test driven mine over a 5 mile route before signing the acceptance forms I would have refused to take it in the condition it was in. Squeaky/squealing brakes, steering out of alignment, poorly fitted trim and loadspace upholstery etc etc.

I personally do not think that I will take delivery of a new car again without a test drive. Anyone currently do this or have any opinions?

Jim

It's a good point but you need to test drive and except before you pay then there is an incentive for the dealer or manufacturers to get it right .

Since October last year, I thought you can reject a car and get full refund if you spot a fault within 30 days?
